Today, many place experience on a pedestal, as if it alone makes a person mature and worthy.
We are assured of this by scholars, poets, philosophers, and writers — people whose names have become synonymous with the “wisdom of this world.”
Their books are quoted, their thoughts fill speeches and motivational talks.
But the Word of the Most High (YHWH Elohim) tells a different story. Experience without wisdom is like wandering without a compass — and at times, it becomes destruction disguised as “life lessons.”
Experience without wisdom is like an axe in the hand of a fool — it may build, but more often, it destroys.
Not every experience leads to ✨ light. Without wisdom, it becomes a heavy burden or a dangerous weapon. It teaches, but it does not guide.
🕊 The Wisdom of Solomon — A Gift He Neglected
Solomon became known throughout the world as the wisest king. But what was the core of his wisdom?
He did not ask for knowledge or wealth, but for a discerning heart to follow YHWH ‘s commandments:
“Give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people and to discern between good and evil.” (1 Kings 3:9)
The secret of his wisdom lay in obedience to the commandments, as it is written:
“Keep and do them (the commandments), for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations…”(Deut. 4:6)
But later, trusting in his own experience and drifting away from YHWH ’s Law, Solomon fell into idolatry. Wisdom could not remain where reverence for YHWH had faded.
📖 True Wisdom Is Found in Reverence for Yahovah
Scripture often uses the phrase “the fear of the YHWH ” But this is not fear in the human sense. It is deep reverence, awe, and a whole-hearted desire to follow His will, knowing that His commandments are not restrictions, but gifts of life and blessing:
“Behold, reverence for the Lord — that is true wisdom, and turning away from evil — that is understanding.” (Job 28:28)
“Through Your commandments You make me wiser than my enemies… I have more understanding than all my teachers.” (Psalm 119:98)
True wisdom is not merely the result of life experience — it is the fruit of obedience. Without action, knowledge is empty, and experience can become a heavy burden.
“Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24)
“Understand, you senseless among the people! And you fools — when will you be wise?” (Psalm 94:8)
⚖️ Conclusion
Experience without reverence for the Creator — without the desire to walk in His commandments — does not make one wise.
It may bring regret or bitterness, but it will not bring light.
Wisdom begins with surrender — with the longing to live by His Word.
Only then does experience become a blessing, and the path becomes straight and full of light.
